AFRICA SAFARI PRICING

Host; Did you know apart from paying for international flights to Tanzania you will also be required to pay for safari?

Traveler; I actually knew because even other places we go for vacation we always pay for the services, what I don’t know is how much does a safari cost especially in Tanzania.

Host; Tanzania safaris are in one hand costless and on another costly because there are many things included to make it a complete package.

Traveler; Clarify please.

Host; Safari packages include entry fees in the respective destination, transport costs to the destinations (this involves the transfer costs, game drive and flights if needed), meals for the whole day, drinking water, accommodations just to mentions the common ones.

Traveler; that sounds meaningful so how could a safari package cost basing on all those items included?

Host; Generally, the price could range from US $ 250 TO US $ 5000 depending on the number of days and the people present. The difference in price could be affected by a number of factors hence leading to a low budget program, mid-range program, luxury or ultra-luxury program of the safari.

Traveler; Could you help me figure out the factors that lead to price variation please!

Host; i would love to and may you please ride with me in the next item.

Factors that lead to the variation of price on a safari in Tanzania.

  • Level and location of accommodation, these are places to sleep, eat, swim, bath and other relaxing activities. I will actually simplify this by saying a person sleeping in public campsites cannot pay the same price as the one sleeping on a 5 star hotel apart from the difference in quality, design, services but also the prices in those two sample places are different as it is well known that in 5 star hotels in is extra expensive spending the night.
  • Length of the Safari, this is measured by the number of days one is going on a safari. While preparing the program in the itinerary we also consider the days one has in hand for doing safari which is also the reason for price variations. In a nutshell; safaris can be arranged lusting for one day of which we call a day trip and it can proceed to even a week or two meaning up to 14 days. In that sense the price for a traveler going on a safari for a single day will not be similar to the one doing a seven days safari and above.
  • Time of the year, the seasons of the year in the tourism industry is grouped into two; the high season and low season. High season ranges from December to March and June to October influenced by many reasons but the biggest being the holidays in the Western and European countries that makes them travel all over the world including Tanzania because they are free to do so hence leading to a large population visiting Tanzania to see the great migration in Serengeti especially the months of June to October. The low season is low because apart from it being the season of heavy rains it also receives very low number of travelers that is why even the prices during the low season are low compared to those of the high season.
  • Number of Travelers, the price of a solo traveler on a safari is higher than a group going on a safari because in a group the costs are shared for hence making them low per person. Also the groups vary because 3 people form a group the one’s we term as small groups but there are large groups from 12 people and above the price will be lower and lower depending on the traveler’s number.
  • Age, the attraction authorities in Tanzania specify rates for travelers going on a safari in different age groups. Age 0 to 5 will get into the destination free without paying a cent, the second age group is from 6 to 15 which pays a half of the total price and the final age group is from 16 and above which pays a full adult entry fees in the park likewise different accommodation places have prepared their rates basing on the above specification hence making prices somehow low if you have children on a safari.
